PANCAKES concluded a week-long celebration of education at Keysborough’s Maralinga Primary School last week.
Maralinga principal Peter Gray said Education Week had kept students busy all week with a variety of engaging activities.
After an open day on the Monday, a mobile farm visited the school and local kindergarten children joined with Maralinga students to pet and play with the animals.
The school captains and Mr Gray also conducted a tour of the school, and a sausage sizzle followed.
On Thursday the school hosted an evening forum for parents about reading to and with children.
But it was Friday’s Mother’s Day pancake breakfast that students and parents alike had been waiting all week for.
About 85 mothers arrived at Maralinga in time for a breakfast that staff and students had prepared.
Fruit, toast, pancakes, tea and coffee were the special treat provided for the hard-working mums.
Mr Gray concluded the week with an inspiring speech on education at Maralinga, and by drawing the Mother’s Day raffle.
“Education Week at Maralinga has been fantastic,” Mr Gray said.
“Every opportunity I’ve had this week, both at school and at outside activities, I’ve been stating how lucky I am to be principal of such a great school.
“The feedback from all our visitors this week has confirmed this, so Education Week at Maralinga has really been a celebration of all the great things which happen here.
“All week, we’ve had a large calico sheet and coloured Textas at all our activities and have invited parents to note on it, what makes Maralinga a great school.
“It’s worked really well with a range of affirming comments in several different languages.”
