A ‘LAB on legs’ visited Dandenong West Primary School last week to teach students about the wonders of science.
The CSIRO’s Lab on Legs visited the school grounds on Wednesday 18 June to help students in grades prep, one and two learn more about science in a fun way.
School publicity officer Gail Winada said the students had been studying toys.
“After a busy term of looking at toys old and new and investigating their types, characteristics and features, the children were very excited to be involved in a toy science day,” she said.
“Toy Science was a fun interactive science show with hands-on activities, where the children explored the exciting world of toys from the simple to the complex, and from the old to the latest in technology.
“During the workshop the children learnt about the science of the world around them by playing with and exploring a range of diverse toys.
“They became scientists for the day, and experimented with a range of different toys in order to find out more about the various simple or complex scientific technologies that make them work,” Ms Winada said.
“It was a fun, hands-on experience, which allowed the children to explore concepts such as sound, circuits and magnetism.”
