THERE was an invasion of Magpies at Dandenong’s Shepley oval on Tuesday as a group of Collingwood players, led by captain Nathan Buckley, held an AFL Super Clinic at the Dandenong Stingrays’ home ground.
Almost 200 children registered with the Auskick program attended the session, with former Stingrays Ryan Lonie and Daniel Nichols among the Magpie stars to help put the aspiring young footballers through their paces.
Coordinator Mark Wheeler was happy with the large turnout despite a very cold evening, and said it was exciting for the kids to have the opportunity to meet and work with stars such as Buckley, Josh Fraser, Brodie Holland, Travis Cloke, Scott Pendlebury and Leon Davis.
Wheeler said Collingwood had been a willing supporter of the community Auskick clinics and had a close affinity with the Casey region with players regularly visiting schools and sports clubs throughout the area.
