A BUDDHIST monk blessed the opening of Toscana Memorials in Springvale on Thursday, commemorating the launch of the Song He Memorials.
Master Rusum, abbot of Yunyang temple in Narre Warren North, blessed the new showroom while Health Minister Daniel Andrews officially opened it.
Toscana Memorials director Peter Layton said there was a need for the Song He Memorials division in Springvale because of its multiculturalism.
“Song He Memorials has an Asian community focus,” he said.
“We design and produce the unusual and distinct headstones that have become accustomed to the Asian community.
“We want to cater for their needs.”
Mr Andrews congratulated Toscana Memorials.
He said it was a great local business and an appropriate service for south eastern Victoria.
“This part of Melbourne is a great place to live and we need to invest in that,” he said.
“Services such as Toscana Memorials with the Song He Memorials section will meet the growing diversity in the Dandenong and Springvale areas.”
Mr Andrews said Toscana Memorials was a modern and effective business as it recognised multicultural diversity.
