ORGANISERS of a small and micro business expo say they will hold a bigger and better event next year after this week’s success.
The ‘prototype’ South Eastern Small Business Group Expo held at Springers Leisure Centre on Tuesday saw 43 exhibitors – mainly small or micro businesses – network and share their knowledge with consumers and other business minds in a bid to give the small fry of the business world a leg-up.
The expo was supported by the Victorian Business Centre (VBC) in Dandenong, and the centre’s small business coordinator, Laila Erickson, said the event was such a success that another would be held in November next year.
“Everyone networked very well together,” she said.
Although only 50 people walked through the doors, Ms Erickson said the small event was not widely promoted, and that it crossed into dinner time for some people – two points the VBC would consider when planning next year’s event.
“But at the end of the day everyone now wants a bigger expo next year, a bigger venue as well, and so we will set up a steering committee to work on it as soon as we come back after Christmas,” Ms Erickson said.
“That way the committee has from January to October to plan and work on promotions, and find a bigger venue.”
