HOMICIDE detectives have flown to the Philippines in a bid to solve the murder of a woman in Springvale.
The body of the 50-year-old was found outside a Springvale house in View Road on 12 December wrapped in a garbage bag. Police have identified the woman as a Filipino resident.
Detectives, with the assistance of members of the Australian Federal Police, last week flew to Manilla to collect dental records and DNA samples from people they believe to be family members of the victim.
Victoria Police said its investigators had also identified a number of persons of interest in the Philippines who they believed could assist with their inquiries. Another two detectives have travelled to Sydney to conduct further investigations with associates of the victim.
Police have released a photograph of the detectives in Manilla with the victim’s family in the hope it may encourage others to come forward.
