THE mother of a Noble Park man assaulted while calling his girlfriend from a payphone says she will only drive – and never walk – anywhere in the city.
Debra Rossi said her son Bradley, 24, has a mild learning disability and was not causing any trouble when he was approached by a man at a phone booth near Isaac Street, Noble Park, on Sunday afternoon.
Ms Rossi told Star that the enraged man began accusing Bradley of raping his girlfriend before punching him in the head and taking him to a house in Cornwall Street.
“Once he got there (the man) banged on the window and a woman answered,” Ms Rossi said.
“She said that (Bradley) wasn’t the one.”
But Ms Rossi said that wasn’t the end of the Sunday afternoon ordeal.
“(Bradley) was punched in the face and slapped around the head and just humiliated,” Ms Rossi said.
“He screamed for help but no-one came to his aid.”
Bradley fled the property to head home, and Ms Rossi said he was lucky to have escaped serious injury.
She reported the incident to Springvale Police, who are investigating the incident, and then took Bradley to a doctor’s clinic for a checkup.
“Bradley won’t be using (that payphone) again,” she said.
“He won’t even be going to Isaac Street, either.
“In fact, my children and I will take the car everywhere.”
