HUNDREDS of Greater Dandenong young people flocked to Palm Plaza on Saturday to cheer on their favourite competitor in the Urban Quest 2007 grand final.
Urban Quest, organised by Mission Australia in conjunction with the Dandenong Plaza, gives young people the chance to either sing or dance their way to musical fame over the course of three days.
Heats were held on Thursday and Friday last week, with the cream of the crop battling it out in Saturday’s grand final.
Categories of vocal, rap and dance were decided and winners received the opportunity to professionally record their song, or in the case of dancers, record a music video.
Runners-up and recipients of encouragement awards received monetary prizes with the view it would be spent on singing or dance development.
Dandenong Police Senior Constable Joey Herrech and Dandenong Plaza assistant marketing manager Krissy Millar hosted the grand final.
In between acts, the audience was invited to interact with the hosts to win prizes for impromptu performances.
