HARRISFIELD Primary School celebrated its 50th anniversary on Saturday with rides, a jumping castle, entertainment, a celebration dinner and more.
The Noble Park school’s principal Fran Luke said the day had been an “overwhelming” success with a huge turnout from both present and past students and teachers.
Ms Luke said past students had come from all over Australia especially for the event, even reaching as far as Germany and Pennsylvania.
The day kicked off with rides and entertainment for the younger people to allow the present students to enjoy the birthday celebrations.
There were also rooms set aside with tea and coffee for the older people to reminisce.
“They just wanted to talk and talk and talk,” Ms Luke said. “There were screams of ‘look at you’.”
Ms Luke said past students and teachers were represented from every decade but most of the people who came had been at the school 40 to 50 years ago.
“It’s amazing to think how much Noble Park has changed since then, back when Princes Highway was just one track.”
Ms Luke said the celebrations went well on into the early hours of the morning after the dinner.
About 320 people attended the dinner held at Noble Park Secondary College Hall.
“There was chatter, hugs, tears and laughter,” Ms Luke said.
“It just shows how valuable the primary school days are.”
Ms Luke said a limited supply of memorabilia was still available including a commemorative book about Noble Park in its early days.
