NOBLE Park was unable to defend a meagre total of 155 at home on Saturday as Yarraville responded with 261 in the penultimate round of the Victorian Sub District Cricket Association season.
With Yarraville resuming at 4/65 on day two, an early wicket to Sean Schubert gave the Parkers some hope at 5/74.
A 56-run stand then extinguished any chance of victory as the Yarraville middle and lower order took control.
Schubert was the best of the bowlers with 3/31 off 13 overs, while Lance Baptist (2/58) and Sanj Weerasinghe (2/57) were the other multiple wicket takers.
Noble Park’s second XI fell short of Yarraville’s total of 198, dismissed for 148.
Nirosh Fonseka top scored with 66 and Johann Wise made 27.
Yarraville reached 7/116 in its second innings, with leg-spinner Wise taking all seven wickets to finish with stunning figures of 7/25 off 10 overs.
Meanwhile, the thirds had a horror first innings to be dismissed for 66 in reply to Moorabbin’s 9/222.
Only Nathan Scouler (14) and Andrew Dennis (14 not out) reached double figures.
It was a complete turnaround in the second dig after the Parkers were asked to follow on, with the score 2/190 at stumps.
Andrew Parker (58), Matthew Dodman (58 not out) and Stuart Patterson (42) were the second innings heroes.
The fourth XI recorded a good victory against Moorabbin, dismissing the home side for 198 after amassing 240 the previous week.
Kush Athukorala claimed 5/41 to be the best of the Noble Park bowlers.
