PERFECT weather ensured a weekend of fun and excitement for the 10,000 people who attended the Dandenong Show.
The show fell on 10 and 11 November at Greaves Reserve in Dandenong, and while the Dandenong Agricultural and Pastoral Society (DAPS) said numbers were less than expected, that did not stop showgoers and stall holders from having a fantastic time.
The horses were absent due to equine influenza concerns, but back for another year was the Art and Craft Pavilion, animal displays and the numerous community service groups such as the Country Fire Authority, Scouts, Lions, Rotary and the Kiwanis, each with a stall or exhibit and providing valuable show services such as sausage sizzles, raffles and cold drinks.
An animal nursery kept young children entertained and gave Dandenong residents a small taste of farming life.
A plethora of rides and carnival games complemented the showbags sold by community service group Apex.
DAPS secretary Lynne Ferris said the society was already hard at work planning for next year’s event, which would include some exciting new attractions and most likely the return of horses, equine influenza controls permitting.
