Students lend helping hand

ST John’s Regional College Year 11 students Katie Zabowski, Christina Young, Sarah Franco and Theresa Balage (pictured) have been lending a helping hand to St Anthony’s Catholic Primary School as part of a community service program.
Year 11 students from the Dandenong Catholic secondary school have been helping out at various local community groups, primary schools, childcare centres and a range of special needs facilities as part of the Religious Education Program.
St John’s Regional College spokeswoman Jessica Brinsdon said the program challenged students to venture beyond their immediate world and experience the giftedness of people whose lives are different from theirs, and who may have needs beyond the experiences of those of the students.
“It is hoped that through working with others in need, the students will become more aware of their own unique talents and the positive impact that they as individuals can have on their immediate community,” she said.
