REFUGEES living in Dandenong and recently arrived people from non-English speaking backgrounds are being given the opportunity to work in childcare.
A course, run in partnership with the Migrant Resource Centre, Mission Australia and Chisholm Institute, will be offered to those interested in becoming childcare workers and family day carers.
The course is funded by the Commonwealth Government’s Stronger Families and Communities Strategy and graduates of this course will walk away with a Certificate III in children’s services.
The course will run from January until September next year, with at least 60 days of class time (three days a week) and 30 days of work placement. Anyone interested is invited to an information session at 9:30am on Tuesday 2 December at the South Eastern Region Migrant Resource, Level 1, 314 Thomas Street, Dandenong. For details call 9706 8933 and speak to Vijaya or email her at vijayas@sermrc.org.au
