CELEBRATIONS were kicked into high gear last week to commemorate Noble Park’s 100th birthday.
Thousands of residents celebrated the event by taking in a variety of activities.
Seniors gathered at the Paddy O’Donoghue Centre on Friday for the opening of a historical display.
Festivities continued on Saturday with a parade, historical walk, children’s rides, face painting and an array of musical entertainment.
Special badges, a DVD with the history of Noble Park and a Noble Park Centenary Souvenir of Our Town magazine was available to residents.
Despite a small shower of rain, Paperback Ward councillor Roz Blades said the festival was flawless.
“Everything went wonderfully,” she said.
“About 3000 people attended. We received nothing but rave reviews,” she said.
Though many of the events were funded by the Greater Dandenong Council, Cr Blades said it was the volunteers’ dedication that made the 100th birthday celebrations a great success.
“On behalf of the council, I would like to thank the centenary committee who gave up so much of their time to put this event on,” she said.
“I hope this brings more people to Noble Park in the future.”
Centenary success
