Cops help kids beat the blues

SANTA’s little helpers, the Dandenong police, brought smiles to hospitalised children when they did a special gift drop at Dandenong Hospital last week.
In the lead up to Christmas, members from the Victorian Police helped the Starlight Children’s Foundation to deliver some early Christmas cheer to seriously ill children. All the toys and presents were donated by Funtastic, one of Australia’s largest toy companies.
Starlight’s CEO Louise Baxter said she appreciated the Victoria Police lending a hand since the economic downturn forced the foundation to take the Starlight Express Van off the road in the majority of states, including Victoria.
“This means Captain Starlight hasn’t been able to bring relief and laughter to hospitalised children,” she said.
Every day during this Christmas period over 400 seriously ill children will be admitted to hospitals across Australia.
The Starlight Children’s Foundation aims to raise $1.5 million to ensure every ill child gets Christmas joy.
This Christmas, the Starlight Children’s Foundation is asking the community to donate and send a special ‘message of hope’ to all seriously ill children in hospital to ensure that Captain Starlight can be on hand to make their stay as joyful and fun as it can be.
Captain Starlight provides ‘Messages of Hope’ to sick kids in all Starlight Express Rooms and at their bedsides across the country.
To send a message of hope simply donate at www.starlight.org.au or call 1300 727 827.
