ALBANIANS in the City of Greater Dandenong are gearing up for this month’s festival that will celebrate their culture with food and entertainment.
The Albanian Festival will feature a range of activities for all ages, including a band from Albania.
Mayor Jim Memeti said the event was a great opportunity for the Albanian community.
“It is a very important annual event,” he said.
“Albanians come to Dandenong from all over Victoria to listen to great music, taste great food and enjoy each other’s company.”
Mayor Memeti said the City of Greater Dandenong was home to more Albanians than any other place in Australia.
Australian Albanian Community Association of Dandenong president, Bill Gani, is the driving force behind the festival, which he said was important to all residents in the area.
“The festival is a meeting place for anyone who is interested in learning about the Albanian culture,” he said.
“People travel from interstate and overseas to come. It’s great to see the way they meet each other and have a good time.”
The festival will take place at Dandenong Park on 31 January from 12pm until 7pm.
