MOTHERS and families in Melbourne’s south-east will benefit from Southern Health’s stage one completion of its Pregnancy and Assessment Unit.
Southern Health chief executive Shelly Park said the $4.8 million Pregnancy Assessment Unit at Monash Medical Centre Clayton would allow for an extra 200 births a year.
“Our new Pregnancy Assessment Unit allows us to implement an improved model of care for women with complicated late stage pregnancies,” she said.
“When completed this year it will allow us to handle an additional 200 such births every year – a major boost for mothers, babies and families from right across Victoria and beyond, including Tasmania. It is yet another part of our continued commitment to delivering better health in our community.”
Additional refurbishments to the unit are expected to be completed by the end of the year.
