Go slow to snow

POLICE are urging drivers heading to the snow to take care on the roads.
Operation Snow Bunny is an ongoing operation which will run until the end of the 2010 snow season, where extra police will patrol areas around Mt Buller Road and the Maroondah and Melba Highways.
Sergeant Marty McLa-chlan said the risk of collision increases due to drivers’ lack of familiarity with the area and lack of experience in commuting on undivided country roads
“Drivers also need to be aware about the dangers of travelling with excess amounts of snow on the roof of their car.
“Sooner or later the snow and ice will fall from their vehicles and can endanger other road users,” he said.
“We are really pushing the safety message and urging motorists heading to the snow to drive to the conditions and beware of flooding, fallen trees and debris.”
