THE dance phenomenon causing Australians to swing their hips and shake their booties will be hitting Noble Park next week.
Instructor Dani Bosancic will be launching Zumba, a fitness program using Latin rhythms and easy-to-follow moves, at the Paddy O’Donoghue Centre on Monday.
Ms Bosancic, who has more than 12 years’ experience as a group fitness instructor, said Australians of all ages have been caught up in the Zumba craze.
“It’s fun. The moves are quite different and allows people to express themselves while having a fun and exciting energetic workout to very uplifting Latin American beats,” she said.
“It really has allowed people to get back into fitness. Most people who try it love it.”
Zumba was founded in the 1990’s by celebrity fitness trainer, Beto Perez in Colombia.
After his success is Colombia, Mr Perez took the class to the United States, and in 2001 he and two entrepreneurs created a global company based on his fitness philosophy.
Word of the fitness class spread like wildfire, and today the Zumba has avid followers all over the world.
Ms Bosancic encouraged residents, both men and women, to put their right foot forward and give Zumba a go.
“It is for adults, about 15 or 16 and older and targeted more at the female market. But I have seen some males do it and love it. That’s the beauty of it.”
Ms Bosancic will launch Zumba at 6.30pm at the Paddy O’Donoughue Centre, 18-34 Buckley Street on Monday and encourages participants to book their place by contacting 0411 139 795.
It costs $10 to attend the launch, and multiple pass cards can be purchased.
