YOUNG paceman James Pattinson will put his batting skills to the test as he makes his season debut with the Dandenong Panthers this Saturday against Fitzroy-Doncaster.
The 20-year-old had to cut short his tour of India with the Australian cricket team as he was diagnosed with stress fractures in his back – an injury he has suffered previously – and was replaced in the squad by close mate and fellow Bushranger John Hastings.
Pattinson was poised to make his debut in the Australian one-day team but was ruled out with the back injury.
Panthers skipper Darren Dempsey revealed that Pattinson had scar tissue build up in his back and it developed into a “hotspot”.
Pattinson is slated to make a return to the state team in three to four weeks.
