Noble Park ducks a win

NOBLE Park’s first XI kick started its season playing its first game against Broadmeadows at home.
After a disastrous start of 3-1 that saw three ducks, Dean Edmunds and Ash Bradshaw steadied the ship before Bradshaw (18) was dismissed at 4/68.
First gamer Izzy Pereira (17) and Rizan Mawzoon (17 not out) played solid knocks and Noble Park reached a competitive total of 6/161 from 45 overs.
Dean Edmunds finished on an unbeaten 86.
Broadmeadows passed the required runs with five wickets down in the 31st over. Noble’s Matt Crozier claimed 3/23 from nine overs.
The second XI continued its good start to the year with a four-wicket victory at Broadmeadows.
Bowling first, Noble Park kept Broadmeadows to 9/165 from its 45 overs. Sean Schubert (3/43) and Lyle D’Rozario (2/16) both making valuable contributions with the ball. Vijay Maharaj continued his rich form with the bat, finishing with 63, as Noble Park passed the score in the 43rd over. Darren Seccull (29), Jake Richardson (27) and Sean Schubert (26) all made valuable contributions.
In a grand final re-match from last year, the third XI exacted some redemption with a comfortable six-wicket win over reigning premier Bayswater. Chasing 127, Noble Park passed the score in the 34th over. Stuart Patterson, in his first innings since returning to the club, top scored with 41. Andrew Borovac was unbeaten on 26.
The fourth XI, fielding a side with only two players over the age of the 16, battled hard but came up short, losing by five wickets to Bayswater. Darren Wilcox showing his class with 54 at the top of the order, as Noble Park was dismissed for 106.
