STUDENTS from Rosewood Downs Primary School are getting their hands dirty in their new school garden, thanks to Coles and Junior Landcare.
The Dandenong North primary school received a $1000 Coles Junior Landcare Garden Grant to establish its community garden and chicken coop.
“The children are excited about growing their own plants, and have been busy digging, planting and watering to prepare their garden for the summer ahead,” school principal Brad Allen said.
Mr Allen said the project would give the students hands-on experience in the garden, growing and nurturing plants.
Coles Waverley Gardens store manager Thinus Keeve said the store was proud to sponsor the School Garden Grants program.
“The students at Rosewood Downs Primary School will receive hands-on experience in designing, planning and creating a garden for the whole school to enjoy,” Mr Keeve said.
Coles and Junior Landcare sponsor the School Garden Grants program by supplying $1000 to schools looking to create school garden projects.
