Motorbike hits 60-year-old pedestrian

A PEDESTRIAN was struck by a motorcycle in Dandenong on Thursday morning.
The 60-year-old man was hit in Remington Drive just after 5.30am.
Ambulances and paramedics were called to the scene and paramedic Jason Callanan said the man suffered a serious leg injury.
“The man has serious fractures to both bones in the bottom of his leg, and also had significant bleeding,” he said.
“We bandaged the wounds and then fitted a splint to the man’s leg to keep the bones as still as possible.
“He was given fluid through a drip to help maintain a stable blood pressure.
“We also gave him pain relief drugs through the drip.
“Because we weren’t sure how the man fell when he was struck, paramedics fitted a neck brace to reduce movement, in case he suffered spinal injuries.”
The man was taken to The Alfred hospital in a stable condition.
