Four masked men attacked two Springvale homes on Halloween, giving the residents a real scare.
Greater Dandenong CIU detectives are investigating the 31 October incidents and released CCTV footage and stills with an appeal for anyone with information to come forward.
It’s believed four men wearing masks and balaclavas arrived at an address on Ellen Street about 2am in a dark-coloured four-door Holden Crewman Cross 8 utility with a distinctive canopy attached to the rear.
Three approached the front door and tried to force entry.
A man in his late twenties was home at the time and came to the door to confront them.
The men left the scene in the Crewman and drove to nearby Gove Street.
They forced entry to a house but the occupants returned home shortly after and disturbed them.
Police said a confrontation on the street then occurred between the victim and the masked bandits before they returned to the Crewman and drove away.
No one was injured in either incident.
One of the unsuccessful raiders was described as obese and was wearing black pants with white stripes, a dark grey jumper and red sneakers.
Another had slicked-back black hair and was wearing runners, a dark-coloured puffer jacket and blue or grey tracksuit pants.
The other man had a medium build and was wearing black pants with white stripes, black gloves with yellow writing on them, and a dark-coloured puffer jacket.
These men are all believed to be of Caucasian appearance.
The investigation is ongoing and detectives have released images and video.
Investigators are appealing for anyone who recognises the vehicle or has any information relating to the identity of the men involved to come forward.

The Halloween raiders were caught on CCTV.
