 Police arrested and interviewed a Dandenong man over a sexual assault on a tram.

Transit CIU detectives said a woman boarded the route 57 tram toward West Maribyrnong about 10.40pm on 16 February.

It’s alleged that as the tram travelled on Victoria Street in North Melbourne, a man stood behind her and sexually assaulted her.

Police interviewed a 36-year-old Dandenong man on Monday 23 April and released him pending further inquiries.

They urged anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential crime report to www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
