Driver critically hurt in car-truck smash

A driver has been critically injured in a crash between a car and truck on Frankston-Dandenong Road, Dandenong South on 16 July.

The car struck the rear of the truck in northbound lanes near the Jayco Drive intersection about 10.30am, police say.

The car’s female driver was assessed by paramedics at the scene and airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

As of 17 July, she was in a critical, stable condition in hospital.

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are investigating the crash. The truck driver is assisting them with their inquiries.

Northbound lanes were closed for much of the day.
