Two men charged over armed carjacking

Two Dandenong North men have been charged following an alleged carjacking in Melbourne’s north.

They were among five people arrested by Special Operations Group and Fawkner Embona Taskforce police at an address at Tylden Place, Westmeadows about 4.30pm on 20 August, police say.

Two firearms were allegedly seized during the arrests.

Police say that a 46-year-old man was carjacked by two men both armed with a gun as he sat in his car in a supermarket car park in Blair Street, Dallas just after midnight on 19 August.

The men demanded the victim get out of his Mercedes, in which they drove off followed by another vehicle.

The victim was not physically injured, police say.

A 27-year-old Dandenong North man has been charged with aggravated carjacking and remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 21 August.

A 19-year-old Dandenong North man was charged with firearms offences and remanded to appear at Broadmeadows Magistrates’ Court on 21 August.

Two other men and a woman were arrested and released pending further enquiries, police say.

The Mercedes has been recovered.
