Good reason for red-light rush

By CAMERON LUCADOU-WELLS

A NEWBORN baby has been greeted to the world by two male police officers at the end of a car pursuit in Dandenong this morning.
The officers had tried to intercept an Audi for a random check on Stud Road about 1.45am.
With their police car’s sirens and lights on, the pair pursued the car which failed to stop and went through a red traffic light before stopping at Dandenong Hospital’s emergency entrance at David Street.
They discovered a mother, father and the cries of a healthy baby, who had been delivered in the vehicle as it arrived at the hospital.
Sgt Steven Boyle, of Dandenong Police, told 3AW Radio that its agitated father, who had been driving, told police: “She’s had a baby, she’s had a baby”.
A police spokeswoman said no charges would be laid against the driver.
