A Dandenong-based support service celebrated its silver jubilee with its first ever open day.
The Southern Migrant and Refugee Centre (SMRC) threw open its doors on Tuesday 20 February.
The community agency has provided services to migrants and refugees in the region since 1993.
“We were pleasantly surprised by the big crowd that attended,” SMRC chairman Brian Oates said.
“The event focused on the history and need for the SMRC services in the South-East and looked forward to the continuation of a reinvigorated and innovative organisation.”
He said there was a strong focus on client and stakeholder engagement and its importance “and a new culture of open and transparent operation supported by all staff and volunteers”.
“We enjoyed a lot of positive comments and support from attendants for who called for more inclusive events into the future,” Mr Oates said.
