Jim and Beth Wilson are still a picture of bliss after being married for 65 years.

The happy couple met at a dance in Wollongong in the ‘50s and attribute their marital success to one thing,

“Jim does as he’s told,“ Ms Wilson said of her husband with a chuckle.

Mr Wilson, who also celebrated his 91st birthday last week, says he knew he wanted to marry Jill only three months after meeting her.

“She’s so easy to get along with”, he said.

The couple – both members of Dandenong Workers Club – have three sons and one grandson who live in Wollongong.

They are now retiring in a hostel in Dandenong.

Here they still enjoy little things like watching the children at the school across the road play or going for an occasional drink.

They also have cute traditions, oten toasting before they have a drink or constantly finishing each other’s sentences.

“We have managed to stay happily married by learning to disagree and move on without sulking’ Ms Wilson said.

The couple continue to love each other by enjoying the simple things in life and being each other’s best friend.

“Love means putting the other person first all the time and being there for them,” Ms Wilson said.
