A Dandenong South factory was gutted by fire last Tuesday morning.

The blaze started about 12.15 at steel fabricator premises in Quality Drive, destroying up to 80 per cent of the 450 square-metre factory, a CFA spokeswoman said.

It took up to 35 firefighters and seven trucks almost an hour to control the blaze, which warped the factory’s exterior.

Greater Dandenong detectives inspected the site but said they weren’t treating the fire as suspicious.
