DANDENONG Rangers will open their Women’s National Basketball League season with a grand final rematch against Bulleen Boomers at Dandenong Stadium on Friday, October 5.

The reigning WNBL champions face two all-Victorian clashes to open their title defence with the Boomers match followed by a clash with Bendigo Spirit at Dandenong Stadium on October 13.

As in previous seasons the Rangers will have four home games to open the season.

The Rangers have re-signed the core of their championship team and have star duo Jenna O’Hea and Kath Macleod playing with the Opals at the London Olympics, while import centre Krista Phillips will be representing Canada at the Games.

The WNBL will feature nine teams this season after the Australian Institute of Sport side was withdrawn in favour of focusing on playing overseas tournaments.

Dandenong Rangers SEABL men will host touring US college side Nicholls State University at Dandenong Stadium on August 7 at 6.30pm.

The match will give basketball fans a chance to see a US college side in action.
