Explosives found at Springvale school

A 10-year-old boy has been cautioned by Greater Dandenong CIU detectives after two suspected explosive devices were found at a Springvale South school last Monday. Athol Road Primary School was evacuated after a staff member found the home-made devices at the rear of the school about 1.40pm. The police’s bomb response unit assessed the devices contained in 600ml soft drink bottles, and took them away for further testing. Detective Sergeant Dean Hayes said the devices had the potential to injure a person’s hand.
