A MULTI-MILLION dollar revamp of Dandenong Hospital was officially unveiled to the public this week, complete with more beds and two new operating theatres.
The State Government contributed $34 million to the project, consisting of a new four-storey ward with a total of 72 acute, 14 intensive care and high-dependency, and 20 rehabilitation beds.
Health Minister Bronwyn Pike opened the facility and said the new wing would benefit the 33,000 families in Greater Dandenong.
“The Dandenong redevelopment is just part of the Bracks Government’s unprecedented $2.4 billion program to rebuild health services across Victoria,” she said.
“This effort has involved the upgrading, rebuilding or refurbishment of 50 of the state’s 110 hospitals.”
Along with the multi-storey ward are two new state-of-the-art operating theatres.
The public will have a chance to tour the new facility, located on David Street, Dandenong, this Saturday, 29 April, between 10am and 2pm.
