Mystery over bodies

By Shaun Inguanzo
FORENSIC specialists and homicide detectives are attempting to unravel the mystery surrounding the deaths of two people whose bodies were discovered in a Springvale house this week.
The deaths capped off a busy 24 hours for Springvale police, who attended an armed robbery that afternoon.
Springvale police found the bodies of a man and a woman aged in their 50s at 8pm on Tuesday after performing a welfare check on the Hillside Street address.
Senior Constable Wayne Wilson said the man had suffered a gunshot wound and the cause of the woman’s death was still being established.
A firearm was found inside the house.
Sen Const Wilson said detectives at this stage believed no one else was involved.
The bodies were removed yesterday morning. A post mortem will establish the cause of death.
Meanwhile, police want information regarding an armed robbery on Tuesday afternoon. Victoria Police media officer Marika Fengler said police believe a man entered the Springvale Road store at 4pm armed with a shotgun, fired two shots into shopfittings and demanded jewellery and cash.
Ms Fengler said the man hit the 49-year-old shop owner with the shotgun, causing severe bruising to his cheek and temple.
The man then fled with a substantial amount of cash and jewellery. He escaped in a white Magna driven by a woman. The car was last seen heading east along Ash Grove.
Police believe the robbery is linked to a similar incident in which a man armed with a sawn-off shotgun robbed another jewellery store along Springvale Road, Springvale, on Tuesday, 11 April.
Police describe the man as of Mediterranean appearance, olive complexion, 165cm tall, aged 20 to 35, of medium build with short black hair. The woman was about 25, of Caucasian appearance and with blonde hair.
Report information to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
