Dandenong doubles its chances

THE Dandenong Rangers Championship Women’s side is back in finals contention after winning two from two Big V games on the weekend.
On Saturday playing Bulleen at the Templestowe Leisure Centre, the Rangers triumphed 68-45 over the Boomers, with a thumping second half setting up the win.
Dandenong led by eight points at the main break, but shut Bulleen out of the game by restricting the Boomers to just six and seven points in the third and fourth quarters respectively.
Melissa Colcott continued her burst of impressive form scoring 14 points for Dandenong, while Claire Fitzgerald contributed 11.
For the Boomers, Kate Legg was tireless, snaring 17 rebounds and blocking seven shots.
On Sunday, the Rangers rolled Coburg 93-37 at the Dandenong Basketball Stadium.
The emphatic win was set up by a dominating first quarter, when the Rangers doubled Coburg’s score 32-16.
The Dandenong defence then restricted Coburg to single digit scoring in each of remaining periods.
Five Dandenong players scored in double figures – Michelle Sessler (14), Colcott (18), Tess Meyer (11), Amelia Todhunter (13) and Meagan Green (19).
