POLICE have charged a 38-year-old man with assault after a bar room brawl in Springvale on the weekend.
Police said two men were involved in an altercation at 2am on 1 June inside over-28s bar the Waltzing Matilda Hotel on Heatherton Road.
A 33-year-old man from East Bentleigh was rushed to hospital after a bottle was smashed over his head.
He was taken to the Monash Medical Centre for surgery.
Police charged a 38-year-old East Bentleigh man with assault, intentionally causing serious injury and recklessly causing serious injury.
He has been bailed to appear before Dandenong Magistrates’ Court on 1 October.
