CCTV will keep an eye on six Greater Dandenong locations under a Coalition Government.
Liberal Bruce candidate Helen Kroger joined Justice Minister Michael Keenan at Dandenong police station on Monday 20 June to announce the $100,000 pilot package.
The Safer Communities Fund cash would buy a relocatable CCTV camera system and install related infrastructure in six locations that Victoria Police identified as having periodic issues with anti-social behaviour, drug-related offences and general crime.
The locations are Licola Crescent in Dandenong South; Hemmings Park, Fotheringham Reserve and Greaves Reserve in Dandenong; Mills Reserve and the Ian Street shopping strip in Noble Park and Tirhatuan Park in Dandenong North.
Ms Kroger said the best way to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour was to prevent it happening.
The $40 million Safer Communities Fund will include two streams.
One will boost efforts of local governments and community organisations to address crime and anti-social behaviour through fixed and mobile CCTV and lighting.
The other will boost efforts to protect schools, pre-schools and community organisations that are facing security risks associated with racial or religious intolerance.
