POLICE are warning people not to give thieves a chance in Greater Dandenong.
They are urging residents not to leave possessions like purses, cameras and mobile telephones in public places.
Detective Senior Sergeant Terry Kane urged residents to be more vigilant and accountable for their belongings.
“A majority of thefts can be prevented by victims,” he said.
“Zip up your handbag and keep it close to you while shopping.”
He said numberplate theft was also an issue.
“Motorists can stop this from happening by using one-way screws.”
