Time for retailer awards

IT’S the last chance to enter your business for a range of awards to recognise excellence among Central Dandenong retailers.
The awards, which are organised by the Dandenong Retail Traders’ Association (DRTA), are open to all retailers in Central Dandenong, whether they are DRTA members or not, chairperson of the Dandenong Retail Traders Roy Aspinall said.
There are five categories for the awards: a retailer with more than 10 employees, retailer with less than 10 employees, innovative retailer, retailer with excellence store design and retailer that represents a culture.
The sixth category, the Central Dandenong Retailer of the Year, will be decided by a judging panel, and the winner will be entered into the Greater Dandenong Chamber of Commerce Premier Regional Business Awards.
Retailers can either be nominated or nominate themselves and can enter more than one category. Entry is free for DRTA members and $100 for non-members.
Retailers in Central Dandenong have been circulated entry forms with conditions of entry, criteria and judging details. Anyone needing to obtain an entry form can contact Mr Aspinall on 9793 3487 or Peter Butts on 9706 9465. Entries close this Friday (6 November ).
Winners will be announced at the Dandenong Retail Traders’ Association annual general meeting and business awards dinner at the Dandenong Club on 24 November.
The evening will feature a three-course dinner and guest speaker Tony Crabb, investment strategy, Savills Australia. Tickets are $60 per person. DRTA members receive one free ticket as part of their membership, but must make a booking for catering purposes.
Bookings must be made by 13 November by calling Peter Butts on 9706 9465.
