FIRE crews were decontaminated after fears of asbestos poisoning following a fire at a greenhouse in Keysborough this week.
The fire started at a Hutton Road property about 2.15am last Monday and was seen by a passer-by, who presumed it to be a house fire.
CFA photographer Keith Pakenham said initial reports were wrong, and that the fire was at an adjoining shed.
“It contained equipment for the climate and temperature control of crops,” he said.
Firefighters from Keysborough and Dandenong were later decontaminated.
“There was a possibility the old shed contained asbestos, and firefighters who were directly involved with the fire fight were decontaminated later on, with assistance from the Metropolitan Ambulance Service,” Mr Pakenham said.
