Hoons rip through park

HOONS are destroying a parkland and creating havoc for residents living near Sandown Park.
Springvale North Ward councillor Alan Gordon this week said he had received calls from residents living near Sandown Park Hotel where a motorist had twice in the past week entered a neighbouring parkland and done burnouts and doughnuts on the grass.
“The grassland is torn up,” Cr Gordon said.
“Residents are saying people have been hooning there at night without even their headlights on.”
Cr Gordon said the parkland was owned by the hotel and he would urge the council to confer with hotel management to find a solution to the hoon problem.
He said the hoons had entered using Racecourse Road and exited using Nockolds Crescent.
