GREATER Dandenong voters will be subjected to 38 days of aggressive campaigning from political parties after the Prime Minister John Howard called an election date of 24 November last Sunday.
Seats concerning the city are Isaacs, Bruce and Hotham, which are currently held by the Labor Party.
Isaacs, held previously by Labor MP Ann Corcoran, is up for grabs with just a 1.6 per cent swing separating Labor candidate Mark Dreyfus and Liberal candidate Ross Fox from power.
That margin makes it one of the closest battles in the nation.
Labor MP Alan Griffin will defend Bruce against Liberal candidate Angela Randall, who will need a 3.5 percent swing to gain power.
Former Labor Party leader Simon Crean will fight for his seventh term in the seat of Hotham against the Liberal Party’s Vincent Arborea, who will need a big 7.41 percent swing to take the seat.
Star will have more on the seats, and their major and minor party candidates, in the weeks to come.
And, on the 39th day?
