SERVICE providers will work together to improve Greater Dandenong children’s early literacy and learning skills.
The State Government this week pumped $800,000 into the Best Start program, which will help multiple service providers and schools work together to achieve better outcomes for children during their early years.
Service providers taking part in the program include Mission Australia, the Adult Multicultural Education Service, Greater Dandenong Community Health Service, Queen Elizabeth Centre, South East Migrant Resource Centre, Good Beginnings, Connections, Dandenong Neighbourhood House, Noah’s Ark, Yarraman Primary School and Southvale Primary School.
Children’s Minister Maxine Morand said the program would help to detect learning or health problems, sooner rather than later.
“By better co-ordinating children’s services we can detect learning or health problems as early as possible and apply the services and resources to ensure get the support they need,’’ Ms Morand said.
A fresh start to learning
