AUTHOR Toni Jordan will explain her meteoric rise to fame when she visits Dandenong Library this month.
As part of the Federal Government’s Books Alive initiative, Jordan will share her own story and transformation from molecular biologist and marketing manager to a sell-out author.
In 2004, Jordan enrolled in a Professional Writing and Editing Course at RMIT.
Her aim was to become a commercial copywriter and her novel was merely a way of fulfilling her course requirements.
Four years on and the release of her debut novel Addition has made her a household name.
The book has sold out in nine countries and Jordan is receiving accolades for her work from around the world.
Addition is a witty and raunchy tale about Grace Lisa Vandenburg. The 35-year-old from Melbourne is obsessed with numbers and a good-looking stranger.
Jordan will speak at the Dandenong Library meeting room on Tuesday, 12 August from 6.30pm to 8pm.
The event is free but bookings are essential on 9238 1489.
Books Alive is an event designed to encourage all Australians to experience the joys of reading.
The 2008 Books Alive Great Read Guide provides details on 50 books from different genres.
Copies are available at Dandenong Library and at www.booksalive.com.au
