Indian leader blesses city

FOLLOWERS of the Saint Nirankari Mission gathered at Dandenong’s Drum Theatre earlier this month to welcome spiritual leader Baba Hardev Singh Ji to the city.
The spiritual movement, which began in India in 1929, packed out the Drum Theatre to welcome its leader to Dandenong.
The group said a local Nirankari group worked tirelessly for days to prepare for the Holy Congregation.
Eastern Metropolitan MP Bruce Atkinson and City of Greater Dandenong councillor Roz Blades attended the function to help welcome Baba Hardev Singh Ji to Dandenong.
Spokesman Manjit Singh said the pair were blessed by Baba Hardev Singh Ji, who then blessed the city.
“Prior to coming to the city of Melbourne, I also visited Sydney and New Zealand and got a chance to meet and share the feelings of saints there,” Baba Hardev Singh Ji said.
“Today, all of us are sitting together in the form of a congregation in Melbourne.
“The need of the world today is peace and it will prevail only when there is unity in diversity.
“In the end I thank all those who are present here as well as the mayor of the city, the councillor and the respected Member of Parliament to have taken time out to be a part of this congregation organised with the intention to establish human values, love and tolerance.”
