PLANS to build a 24-hour car wash in Springvale have been quashed.
The applicant, Azzure Investment Group, proposed to use 102 Police Road, Springvale, as a car wash facility with two rooms set aside for pet wash.
After it was submitted the City of Greater Dandenong, council staff had recommended that a permit be issued to the applicant, but councillors Youhorn Chea and Peter Brown, with the support of their colleagues, refused the motion.
They argued that the proposal of a 24-hour car wash amounted to inappropriate use of a residential zone and that unrestricted hours of operation would be unacceptable.
