AUSTRALIAN rock identity Tex Perkins is bringing to life the legend of country music star Johnny Cash.
Perkins will bring The Man in Black show to the Drum Theatre in Dandenong for one night only on Saturday 18 July, from 8pm.
Cash, who died in 2003, was one of America’s most influential musicians, covering a range of genres including rockabilly, rock ‘n’ roll, blues, folk and gospel.
Perkins is a multi-ARIA award winner and was described by the Herald Sun as “one of the wildest and most electrifying front men in rock.”
Perkins says he was born for the role of Cash and it was a natural gig for him.
“Cash was where it all started for me, I learnt to sing and perform doing Johnny Cash, there’s a lot of Cash in me.”
“The producers are lucky they chose me for the show, otherwise I’d be in the front row heckling the singer telling them it should have been me,” Perkins said.
The former front man of the Cruel Sea, Beasts of Bourbon and Ladyboyz will belt out some of Cash’s most memorable tunes like, Get Rhythm, I Walk the Line and Folsom Prison Blues.
Cost per ticket is $30. For details and bookings contact Drum Theatre box office on 9771 6666.
