MANY homes in Noble Park were left in the dark for several hours after a car hit a power pole last week.
At about 9.15pm on 20 August, a Holden Commodore hit a power pole at the intersection of Bloomfield Road and Kenneth Street, breaking it off at ground level leaving it suspended by overhead powerlines.
Police said the driver, a 24-year-old man from Skye, escaped without injuries. He tested positive for alcohol and charges are pending.
The Noble Park fire brigade’s pumper and salvage unit, the Dandenong brigade’s rescue unit, police, paramedics and multiple power company engineers attended the scene.
Repair crews worked throughout the night replacing the pole and damaged wiring.
