Patterns of Persia

A BLEND of Persian patterns, cultural imagery and design elements will be the basis of an exhibition at the Walker Street Gallery.
The exhibition will showcase the latest digital media works of emerging Dandenong artist Kosar Majani.
Originally from Iran, Ms Majani completed a Bachelor of Fine Art.
She also studied building design and drafting in Tehran for two years.
In 2001 she moved to Melbourne where she pursued her interest in art and enrolled in a two-year Diploma of Art: Visual Art and a Certificate IV in Contemporary Art with a focus on digital art at Chisholm Institute.
She is currently completing a degree in Fine Art at Monash University.
Ms Majani’s works challenge the different ways culture is viewed and represented.
“My art work is created from lines, dots, shapes, colours and patterns,” Ms Majani said.
“I aim to represent culture in different and unique ways, by fitting together different elements which are not related to each other and then creating a relationship between them,” she said.
The exhibition will be on show from 2 to 28 November in the Upper Walker Street Gallery space.
Access is through the main gallery downstairs or through the Community Arts Centre entrance on Robinson Street. Admission is free.
